CAREER DEVELOPMENT TRAVEL AWARDS
Deadline: November 3
These awards aim to help early career professionals with a research interest in anxiety and anxiety-related disorders, such as basic and clinical neurobiology and psychopharmacology, clinical psychology, genetics, neuroimaging, epidemiology, and public health, as well as other areas. The awards also familiarize aspiring professionals with the membership and work of the association.
ADAA will give up to 15 awards to graduate/medical students and early career professionals to present their research at the 30th Annual Conference, March 4-7, 2010, Baltimore Marriott Waterfront. See past award winners.
Eligibility
Qualifying candidates may be any of the following individuals:
- In training for postgraduate degrees (MD, PhD)
- PhD-level researchers or clinicians who have received doctorates or completed a post-doctoral
fellowship within the past three years
- Physician scientists or clinicians who have completed their residency or research fellowship
(whichever occurred last) within the past three years
- Completed an MSW, MPH, or other related degree and have conducted research about or related
to anxiety disorders within the past three years
Candidates must also be the senior author on the poster abstract submitted.
Award Components
- Winners must present a New Research Poster at the ADAA Annual Conference on Friday, March 5,
or at the preconference institute, Anxiety Disorders in Children: Integrating Research Into Practice, on Thursday, March 4
- Complimentary registration to the ADAA Annual Conference and the preconference institute
- $500 travel stipend
- Recognition at the Conference and on the ADAA website
- Consideration to present abstract at EITHER the annual meeting of the ACNP or ABCT (note only three winners can attend ABCT; complimentary registration, but no additional travel funds, will be awarded)
Selection Criteria
- Quality, extent, and multidisciplinary nature of • Evidence of interest and commitment to field of
research anxiety disorders
- Personal statement of future in this area • Interest in becoming involved with ADAA
How to Apply
Applicants must submit all application materials by November 3, 2009. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
- Submit your abstract by November 2, following all poster
abstract guidelines.
- Complete the two-page award application, attach a complete curriculum vitae, and submit to the mailing address or e-mail address below.
- Have one letter of recommendation from a mentor, supervisor, department chair, or advisor sent
