This webinar focuses on how to develop a professional curriculum vitae, and biosketch for each stage of your career. 

This is the first part of the webinar series Preparing Yourself to be a Competitive Applicant: The Ins and Outs of Curriculum Vitae, Personal Statements and Cover Letters presented by the Early Career Professionals and Students Special Interest Group (SIG)


The transition from a graduate student to establishing oneself as an early career professional (ECP) is an exciting time. ECPs in the field of mental health are the diverse in regard to demographics, as well as skill sets. ECPs are graduating from increasing integrated training programs, and developing a wide-range of skills and engaging in activities spanning clinical work, research, statistical analysis, teaching, and supervision. However, knowing how to market these skills and experiences for the next stages of one’s career can be a difficult task. Each career path within the mental health field places varying degrees of emphasis on an individual’s graduate school experiences, making it difficult to determine which aspects of your application material to highlight.

The Early Career SIG has developed a webinar series to provide guidance to help prepare ECPs to be competitive applicants for the job force whether that be a position as a clinician, researcher, academic, or some combination of each. We will be hosting three separate webinars related to developing a professional curriculum vitae, personal statement, and cover letters to reflect ECPs current skills sets and current stage of development as emerging clinicians, scientists, and mentors. Each webinar will consist of multiple panelists, comprising individuals with research, clinical, and teaching backgrounds, who will share their knowledge and expertise on developing and marketing your application materials as an ECP with the goal of helping ECPs become competitive applicants for the next stage of their career.

Learning Objectives

  1. Participants will be able to describe important aspects of a curriculum vitae for various career trajectories as ECPs including clinical work, research, and academia.
  2. Develop a curriculum vitae/biosketch that reflects their individual strengths and experiences as emerging ECPs.
  3. Develop the ability to maximize their CV and biosketch based on individual needs and circumstances.

This webinar is not eligible for CE credit. 

Presenter(s) Biography

Hannah Bergman, PhD

Dr. Hannah Bergman is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Project Director of the “UW Stress Check” study at the University of Washington. The UW Stress Check project is testing if a brief phone-delivered MET intervention promotes treatment seeking and engagement among active-duty military service members who have questions or concerns about their reactions to traumatic event(s) experienced at any point during their life, but who are not currently engaged in PTSD treatment.

Dr. Bergman completed her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Case Western Reserve University and clinical psychology internship training at the VA Puget Sound, Seattle Division in 2017. Her clinical interests include providing evidence-based care to individuals with PTSD and comorbid-related disorders. Her research interests focus on identifying factors that impact PTSD treatment decision-making and treatment outcome.

Vasiliki Michopoulos, PhD - ADAA Board

Vasiliki Michopoulos, PhD

Dr. Vasiliki Michopoulos is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Emory University School of Medicine and a Core Scientist at the Emory National Primate Research Center (ENPRC).  She has a been a member of ADAA since 2014. Dr. Michopoulos’ research investigates how psychosocial stress exposure (including trauma) across the lifespan contributes to health inequities using a translational neuroscience approach across non-human primates at ENPRC and humans at the Grady Trauma Project.  She employs robust social behavioral paradigms, hormone manipulation, dietary interventions, psychophysiology, neuroimaging techniques, as well as psychoimmunology and behavioral neuroendocrinology approaches to conduct her translational, interdisciplinary research.  Dr. Michopoulos’ research is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIA, NIMH).

Dr. Michopoulos has been an ADAA member since 2013 and joined the Board in 2024.

"I am so excited to be able to serve on the ADAA Board. ADAA is my professional home. No other organization pairs cutting edge translational and clinical science with clinical practice in anxiety and depression, while also concurrently providing critical resources for those with anxiety and depression.  I hope to contribute to the growth of ADAA by focusing on increasing diversity within our organization.  There are two kinds of diversity that I think is critical for the future of ADAA: 1) diversity in the disciplines represented and the kind of scientific approaches leveraged by members focused on anxiety and depression (e.g., basic, translational, clinical), and 2) diversity in the membership of ADAA."
