Dr. Neziroglu is Board Certified in Cognitive and Behavior Therapy from the American Board of Behavioral and Cognitive Psychology, Board Certified in Clinical Psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology, a Fellow of ABBP’s Academy and a Fellow of ABCT. She is the Founder and Executive Clinical Director of the Bio Behavioral Institute in Great Neck NY, a clinic specializing in anxiety and obsessive-compulsive related disorders, as well as an Adjunct Full Professor at Hofstra University, Department of Psychology and at The Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.
She started the first intensive outpatient program (IOP) for OCD and related disorders in the US and with her husband, Jose A. Yaryura-Tobias, MD. They introduced the first medication for the treatment of OCD in the US. She has presented and published over 200 papers in scientific journals, the author and co-author of fifteen books on obsessive compulsive related disorders, including, most recently Body Dysmorphic Disorder: Advances in Psychotherapy. Many books have been translated into several languages, including German, Italian, Spanish and even Korean. She has appeared on numerous TV programs and presented nationally and internationally. Her area of research has centered on OCD, BDD and Hoarding.
Dr. Neziroglu is also a member of many national and international societies and is on the Scientific Advisory Board of the International Obsessive-Compulsive Foundation (IOCDF) and the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA), and President of OCDNY. In 2016, she received the lifetime achievement award from the IOCDF for her extensive contribution to the field of OCD research.
