Dr. Yusko received his Psy.D. in clinical psychology from the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. As a graduate student he was supported by a National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) training grant under the expert mentorship of Dr. Barbara McCrady, a leader in the field of alcohol use disorders. Dr. Yusko completed his predoctoral internship training at Montefiore Medical Center, a part of Albert Einstein School of Medicine, and upon completing his doctoral studies, joined The Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety (CTSA) in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania to coordinate a NIAAA funded randomized controlled trial examining sequential versus concurrent treatment of PTSD and alcohol dependence. Dr. Yusko spent over 11 years at the CTSA and has become a nationally recognized expert in prolonged exposure (PE) therapy for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and is a certified PE therapist, supervisor, and trainer by Dr. Edna Foa. Dr. Yusko is one of a handful of experts on the concurrent treatment of PTSD and substance use disorders and has consistently worked on small to large dissemination projects that brought PE to every kind of mental health setting around the world. Dr. Yusko is now the co-founder of the Center for Anxiety & Behavior Therapy and he continues to provide evidenced treatment in his clinical practice, regularly trains mental professionals in effective treatments for trauma and anxiety, and presents on issues associated with PTSD at local and national professional organizations.
