Dr. Hope received her PhD in clinical psychology from the University at Albany-State University of New York in 1990 and joined the faculty at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln the same year. Her current research interests include assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders (particularly social phobia) and the impact of stigma on mental health and health care for individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender. Dr. Hope is the director of the Anxiety Disorders Clinic and the Rainbow Clinic, both of which are specialty services within the UNL Psychological Consultation Center. She has published over 110 papers on anxiety, cognitive-behavioral treatments, culturally sensitive intervention and assessment, mental health impacts of stigma, and LGBT mental health. In addition to her research and teaching responsibilities, Dr. Hope maintains a small private practice.
