Dr. Elizabeth Penela is a bilingual licensed psychologist who earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Miami. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, such as Child Development and Infancy, and she has presented at various national conferences, including the ADAA annual conference.
Dr. Penela founded Wellness in Broward in 2020, a specialized private practice in South Florida dedicated to providing effective therapy to children and adults struggling with anxiety, OCD, and related concerns. Dr. Penela is also passionate about empowering parents with evidence-based tools to help their children effectively cope with anxiety. She has worked with many parents over the years using the SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) treatment program, developed at Yale University by Dr. Eli Lebowitz.
Dr. Penela provides evidence-based therapy services to individuals in person from her private practice office in South Florida, Wellness in Broward. She also provides therapy via tele-health to individuals across all 39 PSYPACT states, and writes an email newsletter for parents filled with science-backed tips and resources.
