Polycarpe Bagereka is an undergraduate Chemistry major at Carleton College and a summer research intern at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Polycarpe has a broad research background ranging from wet-lab immunotherapy applications to clinical research in both solid tumors and hematologic malignancies. He has assisted on pioneering projects such as identifying a biomarker for quiescent AML progenitor cells with implications for future targeted chemotherapies. Polycarpe currently interns at Dr. Ann Berger’s Pain and Palliative Care lab at the NIH where he investigates innovative treatments for trauma-related disorders in healthcare workers that care for patients with COVID-19. Polycarpe is passionate about working in underserved communities and developing novel treatments and therapeutics for patients in critical care.
