The past year has posed hardships and caused losses that have affected everyone in different ways. Resilience is the ability to adapt when faced with such losses and challenges, bounce back, and move forward with optimism.  Everyone is resilient to some degree, but it’s possible to strengthen your children’s resilience “muscles” – and your own – by exercising them. Does your child tend to worry that the worst is going to happen? There are steps you can take, for example, to encourage more realistic thinking.

Our goal is to show how building resilience can ease the transition back to school this fall and help your children thrive despite the uncertainties and changes they will face. The panelists, a child and adolescent psychologist, a pediatrician and an adult psychiatrist, all board members of the nonprofit Resilience Across Borders, Inc., will discuss practical and evidence-based skills that parents can encourage in their kids as they move forward into a new school year.

Presented in partnership with Resilience Across Borders.

Resilience Across Borders is dedicated to increasing access to mental health interventions for all children and adolescents. Our research-based method helps youth build resilience so they can adapt to life’s challenges now and throughout their lives. We provide direct interventions in underserved schools, train educators and mental health practitioners, and conduct research.
