Adam Carey's Half-Marathon Fundraiser
I am writing to share a personal story of how a young man close to me suffered from mental illness and saw no other way out and took his own life. He was a well-respected member of the community and was passionate about many organizations, ADAA being one of them. It was his wish, in lieu of flowers that donations were dispersed among those organizations.
Here is where I come in. On July 15th, 2018, I began a 13.1 mile journey through the roads of Easton, Massachusetts with one goal in mind. This goal was not to finish or get a certain time, but instead raise money for such a great organization and in memory of a friend. Thanks to the generous donations of many friends and family, I was able to raise over $2,100.00 with the hope that this money would help individuals cope with mental illness of their own.
Thank you so much ADAA and keep up the wonderful work for such a relevant and serious illness!
