Susan Clayton, PhD

Susan Clayton , PhD, is the Whitmore-Williams Professor of Psychology at the College of Wooster in Ohio and a visiting fellow at the Paris Institute for Advanced Studies. Dr. Clayton’s research examines people’s relationship with the natural environment; she has written about the effects of climate change on mental health, and about climate anxiety in particular. She is a lead author on the forthcoming Sixth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

There is a recent and growing resurgence of interest in the potential for psychedelic compounds to be utilized as treatments for mood and anxiety disorders when administered in the context of a psychotherapeutic regimen. Chief among the substances most extensively studied is psilocybin, a compound originally derived from a genus of mushrooms that occurs naturally in most continents across the world.

Greg Fonzo, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Dell Medical School with a courtesy appointment in the Department of Psychology.  He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Georgia Honors Program in 2005 with a dual bachelor’s degree in biology and psychology. He received his doctorate in clinical psychology in 2013 from the San Diego State University/University of California-San Diego Joint Doctoral Program.
