La Dra. Karen G. Martinez, MD, MSc es una psiquiatra de niños y adolescentes en San Juan, Puerto Rico.  Al momento, es catedrática asociada de la Universidad de Puerto Rico donde dirige el Centro para el Estudio y Tratamiento del Miedo y la Ansiedad. En este Centro, dirige un equipo interdisciplinario para desarrollar investigación y protocolos de tratamiento culturalmente adaptados para Puerto Rico.  El equipo consiste de psiquiatras, neurocientíficos y psicólogos que estudian el rol de la fisiología del miedo en el tratamiento de la ansiedad.  La Dra. Martínez también completó la Maestría Post-Doctoral en Investigación Clínica-Traslacional en el 2006 y actualmente es la investigadora principal (R25MD007607) y directora de este programa.   También es la investigadora principal (R21MD013652) de una propuesta que estudia los perfiles epigenéticos y microbiales del estrés prenatal causado por el paso del Huracán María.  Ha recibido múltiples premios reconociendo su trabajo en investigación incluyendo el Career Development Award de la Asociación Americana de Ansiedad y Depresión (ADAA, por sus siglas en inglés) y el Minority Faculty Award del Colegio Americano de Neuropsicofarmacología (ACNP, por sus siglas en inglés).  La Dra. Martínez es parte del liderazgo de varias asociaciones profesionales incluyendo ADAA donde ha desarrollado varios proyectos para aumentar la educación a un público diverso y es la co-directora del Grupo de Interés en Asuntos Multiculturales.  También es parte del Comité de Desastre y Trauma de la Academia de Psiquiatría de Niños y Adolescentes de América (AACAP por sus siglas en inglés) y miembro de la junta de directores de la Asociación de Ciencia Clínica Traslacional (ACTS por sus siglas en inglés).

Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Amedco maintains responsibility for this course. Social Workers completing this course receive 1.0 GENERAL continuing education credits.

New York Board for Social Workers
Amedco SW CPE is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #0115. 1.0 hour.

NBCC
The Anxiety and Depression Association of American (ADAA) has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6872. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. ADAA is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.

CAMFT
The CAMFT board accepts credits from providers approved by the American Psychological Association (APA).
