Life After Depression: A Scientific and Personal Perspective

Depression is one of the most urgent mental health challenges facing modern society. While scientists have generally assumed that the prognosis for well-being is poor among those with depression, new research is now challenging this assumption: In national datasets, a substantial group of people who had a diagnosis of depression go on to report high levels of psychological well-being, including lives rich with positive emotion, purpose, and meaning.

With this research as a backdrop, this webinar will explore the possibilities of life after depression with Jonathan Rottenberg, Professor in the Department of Psychology at Cornell University. In addition to sharing his research on mood disorders, and his personal experience as a depressed person, the webinar will afford ample time for audience questions both about what is known about life after depression and what this knowledge tells us about the challenges and opportunities of living with depression.
