I Always Wanted to Fit in and be Normal...What is the Actual Definition of Normal Though?

by Cassidy Walker

Dictionary:
Conforming to a standard; usual, typical, or expected. I look in the mirror every day and really have to think, do I want to fit that so called normal?

My name is Cassidy Walker and this is the story of how I am proud of not fitting the social normal standards of our society.

I used to pass out from anxiety... yes, you heard me. I actually would faint from stress. At one point in my life, I finally gave up and told people "Yes, I am lying about my fainting spells", because I had no idea what was going on.

No doctors had a clue what was happening until one day, one actually did.
"It is as if she flips a switch to protect herself, resolving in these fainting episodes."

At this point of my life, it was taking over everything, until one day, I knew I had to take back my life. I rarely pass out now, but I take it one day at a time.

I fell in love with the art of Photography at a very young age and used that as a coping tool and a way to escape my reality. I am now doing a gallery show this coming July of 2021 to showcase my new collection: A Million Dreams - Never Say Never and I will be donating to ADAA 50% of my proceeds because this cause is something that is very close to my heart.

When you feel alone, really think, are you really? Create a support team. My mom and dad are my best friends and the ones who saved my life as well as my fellow employee's and my amazing, incredible boss.

People said I would not be able to work, my boss one day took me aside and said "Look at me! It's your choice and you decide if you can do this, because we all know you can, you need to believe that though." If it was not for her and my other co-worker/friend, my mindset would be at a whole different place.

I am still learning, I am still trying, but in the end, I got this.

I am a Pharmacy Assistant, and a photographer. I change lives with both of my jobs. One patient and one photograph at a time.

Find something worth fighting for, and if you don't, fight for yourself, because YOU ARE WORTH IT.

All these photographs are Self Portraits.
