Sabrina's Poster Design

Sabrina's Poster Design

by Sabrina Bruno

20180527_123207 (2)_0.jpgI designed my poster with the intent of showing that reaching happiness was possible; healing was possible. The bottom half of the poster represents the soul being trapped, surrounded by darker colors. I hoped to achieve what an individual might feel like facing a mental disorder alone. The luminescent light that surrounds the figure, represents when one is willing to take the first step in seeking the help they need. This first step ignites a chain reaction. From then on, the spirit is cleansed and can finally break free. Brighter colors are used here, to express positivity and freedom. I wanted to convey a message of hope, optimism, and strength. To raise awareness no matter how small that may be.

I chose to represent ADAA and design this poster with the organization in mind, because I believe in their mission. As someone who struggles with social anxiety and has faced depression, I have often received comments such as "It's all in your head," along with "You'll get over it." I'm aware that anxiety is often referred to as an "invisible disease." Depression can be met with misunderstanding and at times, major symptoms are often disregarded. Through education, the Anxiety and Depression Association of America can help dispel certain stigmas against anxiety, depression, and other disorders. As well as, providing resources and guiding individuals towards the road to recovery.

It is my hope that one day, a cure can be achieved. To ADAA - continue the good fight! I wish those who might face certain struggles, to remain hopeful and optimistic. A brighter future is in store for you. You can and will achieve happiness; it is very possible. God bless you all!

I want to thank ADAA for providing an outlet for me to share my project and story with others.
