Surviving GAD Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Surviving GAD Generalized Anxiety Disorder

by Medrick Lihanda

My name is Medrick Lihanda, and I am a father of two. Two years ago, I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. This condition controlled my every thought and action, causing me to experience panic attacks, physical pain, and intrusive thoughts. I often found myself visiting the ER, but the search for relief was in vain. However, I did not give up. I sought help from a therapist and underwent behavior change therapy. I also delved into spirituality, gaining a deeper understanding of myself and the world. Through hard work and perseverance, I slowly regained control of my life. Today, I am proud to say that I have overcome my anxiety and I am grateful for the journey I went through. I want to share my story and offer hope to anyone else facing similar struggles. There is a path to recovery, and you too can overcome your anxieties and live a fulfilling life. My story is one of resilience and determination, a testament to the human spirit and its ability to triumph over adversity. I am a source of inspiration for those battling mental health challenges and a beacon of hope for a brighter future.

I reached out to ADAA because I feel that my journey of overcoming anxiety disorder will give hope to those who are going through the same. I remember when I had panic attacks, chest pains, brain fog, eye issues, inflammation and thoughts of doom. All I wanted to know is that it will get better. So I am here to share my story to give hope to others.

My intention is to be an advocate of mental wellness, to speak about it and give hope.

I am here for you.

Here is an audio of my story on overcoming GAD generalized anxiety disorder.
