Elizabeth McMahon, PhD

Elizabeth McMahon, PhD is a recognized expert in virtual reality exposure therapy (VRET) who has specialized in anxiety disorders for over 30 years and has used virtual reality (VR) with clients since 2010. Dr. McMahon has given CE presentations on using VR to treat anxiety and phobias at national conferences, including for ADAA, the American Psychological Association (APA), the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT), and PESI. Her webinar ontreating needle phobia using VR for exposure as well as a video of a simulated VRET session are offered free to therapists through the Society for Virtual Reality Therapy (www.SVRT.org). Her publications include Virtual Reality Therapy for Anxiety: A Guide for Therapists (Routledge, 2022) and the client workbook, "Overcoming Anxiety and Panic interactive guide" (Hands-on-Guide, 2019).
