Founded in 1979, ADAA is an international nonprofit membership organization dedicated to the prevention, treatment, and cure of anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, and co-occurring disorders through education, practice, and research.

ADAA’s unique interlinked consumer and professional mission focuses on improving quality of life for those with these disorders.

Working with Professionals

ADAA is the only multidisciplinary professional organization in mental health that engages the world’s leading experts who focus on anxiety, depressive, obsessive-compulsive, and trauma-related disorders.  ADAA's more than 1,500 professional members are psychiatrists, psychologists, neuroscientists, researchers, nurses, social workers, therapists and more.

ADAA members enjoy a wide variety of benefits including the ability to network, collaborate and share research, access to ADAA’s monthly professional journal and professional education opportunities including ADAA’s annual conference and monthly webinars, and the ability to promote their practice.

Working with the Public

ADAA focuses on improving quality of life for individuals and their families struggling with anxiety and depression. Every day ADAA staff and our members work tirelessly to educate the public about the latest research and treatment options, bringing together the greatest minds in the field to raise awareness and work toward wellness.

ADAA provides a broad range of free resources to the public including webinars, podcasts, blog posts, two online peer-to-peer support communities, a “find a therapist” directory and a monthly e-newsletter. Currently, more than 11 million people visit ADAA's website annually (and click on more than 19,000,000 pages) to find free resources and support.
